Press Officers from our Football Journalism course hosted a press conference this week with guests Nigel Clough, manager of Mansfield Town Football Club, along with players from the club.

Captain Ollie Clarke and his teammates were put in the hot seat to answer questions around their promotion campaign, mood in the camp ahead of the next game and what appealed to them to sign to the club.

Our teaching team for Football Journalism have a great relationship with Nigel Clough, who answered questions around his football and managerial career, how the game has changed since his days as a player and the impact of social media on sports people.

The students captured content for their YouTube channel and social accounts - an inspirational event for everyone involved.

Designs by finalists of Fashanne Awards Fashion Designers of the Future Awards have been unveiled as part of a permanent exhibition at East Midlands Airport. The stunning 24 piece photography display shows off the designs created by final year fashion and textile students from Universities that have participated in these prestigious awards over the years.

FASHANNE draws on the East Midlands great design past as the historical home of the textile, lace, shoe, silk and knitwear industries, and aims to connect a new generation of designers with industry, bridging the gap between education and employment. These stunning awards offer its winners financial support, showcasing opportunities at the annual live show, mentoring and internships with leading companies from the world of fashion and textiles.

University of Derby student Christa Yiannaki is one of the students to have their designs included in the display, with their 'Architectural Human' collection that was shortlisted in the athleisure category at the 2022 FASHANNE Awards.

Have you visited the airport recently and seen the showcase of student work? Keep an eye out for more images going up during 2023.
