MORE WORLDSKILLS COMPETITIONS IN ACTION THIS WEEK!

Five of our talented Beauty Therapy students travelled to Northern Regional College for the WorldSkills UK Beauty Therapy Regional Finals!

Alissa Jarvis, Caitlin Doey, Casey Hamilton and Orlaith Hegarty from our Limavady campus, and Sarah Jane Mailey from our Strand Road campus all reached the finals of the competition, which is a reflection of the hard work they have demonstrated through the year.

Science students take on WorldSkills UK competition! 🧪

NWRC hosted the qualifying heat of the Laboratory Technician WorldSkills competition, where students worked through various challenges designed to test their laboratory skills including time management, problem solving and adaptability.

The countdown is on to the FE Excellence Awards 2026 🌟

Tomorrow we are bringing together colleges from across the NI Further Education sector at the Glenavon Hotel to celebrate the outstanding achievements of learners and staff.

This year’s awards will recognise excellence across a wide range of areas including Traineeships, Apprenticeships, Lifelong Learning, Higher Education, and more - showcasing the incredible impact of our sector.

Considering a career in Housing, but never really understood what it's all about? Housing student Jake explains all about the two-year apprenticeship programme at NWRC.

Studying one day per week allows him to work the rest of the week with his employer, Choice Housing, gaining experience in the role whilst getting paid and gaining his qualification.

Jake was also a finalist for the Chartered Institute of Housing Young Professional of the Year Award - a standout achievement so early on in his career!

NWRC takes on Italy!💙

A group of students from Health and Social Care, Hair and Beauty and Construction and Engineering are currently on an Academic and Cultural Enrichment Programme in Pescara, Italy.

Each group are taking part in training and industry visits relevant to their curriculum area, and it has been a week full of new experiences and learning.

Well done to NWRC computing student Louie Proctor

The 17-year-old is the only student from Northern Ireland to have secured a place on the prestigious Patch x OpenAI Young Builders Week in Dublin – a programme bringing together some of Ireland’s brightest young tech talent.

Louie will spend five days taking part in hands-on projects, AI workshops and expert-led sessions on everything from coding with AI tools to AI safety

Outside college, Louie is also an active member of gaming charity Kippie – first learning to create games there as a young teenager and now volunteering to inspire the next generation of game makers.

Have a brilliant experience Louie.
