One of our students, Ryan, recently took part in the U23 World Deaf Football Championships 2026 in Zlatibor and we couldn’t be prouder of everything he has achieved.

Last week, a small group of our students took part in the Portland Games, and what a day it was! ⚽🎉

The students were a huge credit to our college, showing fantastic sportsmanship while giving their all and bravely overcoming personal barriers to take part.
We’re incredibly proud to say they didn’t just take part… they won the football tournament too! 🏆 That’s three years in a row!

Both the Boccia and Football team worked brilliantly together, supporting one another and making sure everyone felt included throughout the day.

A huge thank you to our staff who supported our students, and to the host college for organising such a welcoming and well‑run event. 👏

A Doncaster student is set to fulfil a dream as he represents his country at the under 23 World Deaf Football Championships in Serbia, which kicks off today, May 11.

Ryan Woodcock, aged 19, from Rotherham, studies at Yorkshire Rose College in Doncaster and has been selected to play for Great Britain in the international tournament.
Representing Great Britain is a major achievement for Ryan. Participation in the championship is self-funded and he has successfully raised the £2,500 needed to cover travel, accommodation and training.

He said: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported getting me to Serbia. It means a lot.

This week, our college students took part in a Deaf Awareness Carousel, featuring six interactive activities designed to build understanding of Deaf culture and communication. Through activities such as a lipreading challenge and a spot the difference activity, students gained insight into what life can be like for someone who is Deaf.

Sharing Deaf Awareness tips with our students is vital in promoting, empathy and respectful communication, helping to create a more accessible and understanding college community for everyone. 💙
