Heather McGee was presented with the British Texel Sheep Society prize for best sheep related dissertation at SRUC’s graduation ceremony at Bute Hall in Glasgow.

Her dissertation investigated the impact of weight on the survivability of hill ewes compared to in-bye ewes and what factors can impact their weight. Heather now plans to combine crofting and a career as a primary school teacher.

AgriScot has launched the 2026 Business Skills Awards, marking 16 years of the prestigious competition, with a top prize of £1,000 for the winner, kindly sponsored by Virgin Money UK

Barony campus welcomed our NC and HNC Agriculture students this week to settle in and get to know each other before the serious stuff starts next week.

Quizzes, games tasks, rounders and an assault course were fiercely competed in for the grand prize of a tub of heroes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills, gain valuable experience and enhance your CV whilst making a real difference. It’s open to any SRUC student, and no prior experience is needed. Student Partners can expect to work 20 hours over the course of the academic year, at a time and pace that suits you. It is paid at the Living Wage, and you’ll be supported by a staff member.
