CELEBRATION FOR DR BRUCE SINCLAIR

After four decades of teaching, many of you will know and have been inspired by Dr Bruce Sinclair. To mark Bruce's great achievement of reaching this 40-year milestone, a celebration event of his long-standing service to St Andrews will take place from 10.00am to 6.30pm on Friday 26 June 2026.

The programme will include contributions from current and former colleagues, as well as alumni, reflecting on Bruce’s impact on their careers and his many achievements over a distinguished and storied career.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to reconnect with old friends and network with fellow Physics and Astronomy graduates from across the years.

The deadline to register is Sunday 7 June 2026.

Lecturer in Advanced/ Photonic Materials - AC2483
We wish to appoint a Lecturer in experimental physics within the School of Physics and Astronomy. You will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation in the applications of advanced materials and/or photonics, a clear vision for your future research and impact programme, and a commitment to delivering high quality teaching across Physics.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of research interests that complement those in the School, to have clear and credible plans to fund their work through grant applications which align with UKRI priorities, and to be capable of teaching the subject to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds. The School's facilities include an outstanding range of advanced fabrication and characterisation laboratories, and we would welcome applications from candidates whose research areas would benefit from these.
Candidates should hold a PhD in physics or a cognate discipline. Excellent teaching skills and a demonstrated interest in translation of their research are essential.
