Lifelong Learning at UoE encompasses the continuous development of skills and knowledge throughout a learner’s life. University of Edinburgh's Short Courses.

As well as courses, we also offer learners the chance to join in with our free events/lectures, and to become part of our community. Located at the Centre for Open Learning at Paterson's Land, we offer entry-level courses in a wide-range of subjects, including art, design, film, languages, music, history, sciences and much, much more.

📣History Discussion Group

Join History teacher Marc di Tommasi, for a relaxed and thought-provoking discussion group exploring the hidden corners of the past. June's topic is 'Men's Fashion.'

Each session will begin with a surprising, lesser-known story and open into conversation. No specialist knowledge needed — just curiosity, conversation, and your own perspective.

Our Festival of Languages event on Monday was a huge success — thank you to all the learners, staff and students who joined us! 🌍✨

As part of the celebrations, the Resource Centre hosted our Language Luggage Exhibition 🧳 — a collection of meaningful objects shared by staff, students and learners, each representing memories, roots, home languages and cultures from around the world.

Take a peek at some of the wonderful items on display, and see if you can spot some of the origami creations made at a workshop by attendees on the day, guided by our talented Resource Centre Assistant, Benji 🦢
