The University of Edinburgh Economics Peer Assisted Learning Scheme EconPALS is a Peer Assisted Learning Scheme at the University of Edinburgh.

Available to first-year economics students, we have the aims of providing insight into the Economics 1 course, as well as expanding engagement with economics through events outside of the classroom, and easing the difficult transition to university life (both academic and otherwise) through creating a community within the subject and helping students connect. We run five weekly hour-and-a-half ses

sions, where leaders (economics students from older years) will help first-years with material throughout the course, whilst sharing their own experience and advice. Beyond the curriculum, EconPALS leads large delegations to various economics conferences in the UK, puts on socials, connects lecturers with students through exclusive video-tutorials on material, and much more; expect to see us at many events, some less economics-related than others! As the new academic year is approaching, we are excited to let you know that EconPALS and EconCLANS have merged into EconPALS 2.0 and we are ready to welcome all of the first-year students to join our community!

Activities organised by EconPALS 2.0 include both academic peer support and social activities. For new Year 1 students, EconPALS 2.0 offers academic support sessions on Economics 1 and weekly social opportunities. For Year 2 and Honours Year students, EconPALS 2.0 continues to provide academic peer support.
