Developed by slaves in Brazil, it is now present on every continent on the globe! Learning Capoeira will bring you into full contact with an assortment of martial arts techniques, elements of dance, and most importantly music— making Capoeira a truly uni

que martial art! Everything we do you'll find here and Capoeira is for everyone—whether you want to keep fit, improve your flexibility, for self-defence, or simply to enjoy the Brazilian way of life!

Dear fellow Capoeiristas,

First of all, I'd like to remind you about our session at Teviot Debating Hall at 2pm today!
Then, there is some important info about the other classes this week: For some reason we couldn't get a room for the Sunday class (October 7th), meaning that unfortunately that class will be cancelled this week.
However, we still have the Ochil Room booked for Friday 6pm, so either we'll just have our normal free session or if we are very lucky Bruce Lee, former President of the Society and awesome Capoeirista, will teach the class to make up for the cancellation on Sunday. I'll let you know what's going on as soon as I know- Either way, come along on Friday to get your biweekly dose of Capoeira!

Finally, we have been invited to a workshop hosted by the Uni on October 20th. It's part of Black History Month and will be about- surprise, surprise- CAPOEIRA! I am very excited about this as it'll give us an opportunity to learn more about the origins of Capoeira and there will also be a Capoeira Angola workshop run by the Edinburgh group Mao no Chao- in fact, why am I telling you all this? Just check out the link:

Looking forward to seeing you all later today or Friday!
Clara

On Saturday 20 October, the School of History, Classics & Archaeology and Mão no Chão Capoeira Angola Scotland will be pleased to present an afternoon of talks, discussion, movement and music to mark Black History Month 2012.

Hello everyone!
Just a quick reminder of the class in the Highland Room (Pleasance) today! It'll take place from 2-4pm and everyone is welcome, even (or especially) if you couldn't make it to our session last Wednesday- Hope everyone has recovered and is ready for more

UPDATE

Due to a slight problem with the hall (which they are currently fixing) there will be no class at Walpole Hall tonight. Afraid we're gonna have to cancel our little adventure but fear not - we shall reschedule another in no time!

Sorry about this.

Hey gang!

Just a reminder that Ed.Uni. Capoeira Society members can attend the Monday and Thursday Walpole Hall classes for the same price as Wednesday Pleasance classes (£3.50). So if you fancy it come and meet up outside Teviot at 5.45pm tomorrow so we can venture there as a group. I remember getting horrifically lost the first time I went there. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone else.

So yes! The classes are great fun and you get to cram more capoeira into your week. What more could you want?

That's right: nothing.

25/10/2011

hey ya! sorry for the short notice, but tomorrow (wednesday 26nd) we'll train in the pentland room (not at 48a upper) at the pleasance, across the 1st courtyard and into the little door under the arch, ground floor. see you there! clara

*UPDATE*
Dear all! due to some thing going on in the debating hall this wednesday (19.) our class has been relocated to "the venue" at potterow, 2pm as usual. No idea where that is exactly but i am sure we'll manage.
alas!, the only tragedy is the absence of curly fries at potterow...
but to comfort you (and me, mainly): on saturday 22nd we'll have our first free training session in pleasance 48a Lower, 6pm onwards, yaaaay!
see you soon

Just a question. Is everything all dandy with the website? I think it would be good to get advertisements of it up on screens ready for the start of next semester? With lesson schedules too?
What do people think? Vin also - is there anything you want me particularly to do. I think the general consensus between everyone is that www.eucapoeirasoc.co.uk is great.

EUCS is the official Capoeira Society of Edinburgh University. We have an annual calendar packed full of events and our club is a great starting point to explore the amazing martial art of Capoeira. We have members from beginners to experts, so everyone is welcome!
