With over 95% of those who voted electing to take strike action, our members are unequivocal in their message to GCU management- they do not accept the rationale for these cuts and will fight against any proposed redundancies.

Members of the Educational Institute of Scotland University Lecturers Association have delivered a powerful mandate for strike action at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) in response to the university’s proposed redundancies.

Our community outreach programme kicks off tomorrow, creating opportunities for more people across Orkney to enjoy live music.

Artists will perform to pupils and service users at ten schools, nurseries and care homes over the next two days.

For the second year running, we're also organising a community concert at the Pickaquoy Centre for hundreds of school pupils, plus adults with additional support needs.

A donation towards the cost of delivering this free programme was received from the Educational Institute of Scotland.

We hope everyone enjoys the brilliant music!

The International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia is observed every year on the 17th May to show solidarity and take action for LGBT equality.

In 2021, Scotland made history in becoming the first country in the world to commit to embedding LGBT inclusive education across the curriculum, for all ages. But Scotland’s journey is far from a linear story of progress, and we still have a lot of work to do.

Taking a closer look at this journey serves as a good reminder of the importance of IDAHOBIT – and the importance of continuing to address the underlying attitudes and behaviours, in order for us to have a more fair and equal education system.

In the latest episode of our Still We Rise podcast, EIS National Officer (Equality) Selma Augestad talks to Jordan and Liam from Time for Inclusive Education about IDAHOBIT, Scotland’s journey to LGBT inclusive education and our joint plans to tackle the new threat of rising prejudicial disinformation.
