Children across the UK are soon heading back to school, and right now the UK has an opportunity to help ensure the most marginalised children around the world can too.

On 23 September, the UK Government will make one of its first major financial decisions since Kirsty McNeill MP for Midlothian became Minister for International Development: its pledge to the Global Partnership for Education

With the UK's aid budget shrinking, multilateral funds like the GPE are how every pound is made to stretch further. This pledge is a real test of that commitment.

As members of the Send My Friend to School Coalition, we're calling on the UK Government to reaffirm its role as a global leader in education by maintaining its funding for the GPE.

We held a rally this morning in support of the City of Glasgow college welding lecturers who have been in dispute since November over healthy and safety risks in their department.
