🍓Why you should join Edinburgh Napier University Women’s Football Club 🍓

With the new season just around the corner and our taster sessions already being organised, we’re getting SO excited to welcome some new faces to the club! 🥳

Whether you’re starting university this September, heading into your final year, or somewhere in between, there’s never been a better time to try something new, meet new people and get involved with the club!

We know results day has recently happened, so first of all, congratulations to everyone who got the results they were hoping for! 🎉 We hope you’re now looking forward to starting university.

To give you a little taste of what our team is all about, we’ve put together 8 reasons why you should join us this year! From making friends and learning new skills to being part of a team, there’s something for everyone and you definitely don’t need to have experience to get involved.

And who better to tell you what the club is really like than some of our amazing leavers (who sadly won’t be joining us this year), they have shared some very kind words about their experiences with the club over the years. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they’ve brought to the club and will definitely miss having them around, and huge congratulations to all of them for graduating and we can’t wait to see what the future brings them.

So, if you’re looking for a way to make the most of your university experience, meet new people and try something you might not have considered before… why not come along to a taster session, more information yet to come…

Any questions on taster sessions, training, memberships etc please DM us! 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

Last but certainly not least, we have our President for the second year in a row… CARRIE MAIN!!! 🍓🍓🍓
From day one, Carrie has worked tirelessly for this team. Whether it’s putting in the hard yards on the pitch or organising everything behind the scenes, she’s always gone above and beyond to make sure the club reaches its full potential.

As our reliable left-back over the years, Carrie never fails to put in a shift. Even if it means sacrificing her knee, she’ll still throw herself into a tackle without a second thought.

Whether her knee’s buggered, she’s lost her voice, or she can barely walk, one thing’s guaranteed… she’ll still have a VK in hand on a Wednesday night. She is also very thoughtful, helpful and encouraging if she spots you with an unfinished VK in hand (you will finish it) and of course on the pitch.

We got a free shout out on the men’s rugby page as she is seen to be a weakness to one of them, un(fortunately) she chose a whynot VK over him… (at least she has her priorities straight)

Unable to fake tan, carry’s a bottle of Caesar salad sauce, brain rotted and always up for a pint or run (realistically it will be both) is what makes up our amazing president Carrie, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store this upcoming year! Go Maino! 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

Next up we have… Sophie! Sophie has made such a positive impact on the team since she joined last year. Not just demonstrating her commitment on the pitch but also helping with the kit, equipment and driving people around… she’s the full package and we couldn’t be more pleased with her dedication of becoming secretary this upcoming season.

Sophie volunteers a lot of the time outside training and games to ensure the team is running smoothly, even if that means she spends her Wednesday nights coaching kids while we are all singing our hearts out in Finnegan’s and having one too many VKs in why not. Nonetheless Sophie is great fun on a night out… even if she has to leave early to get the train home… but she is always such a fun and sociable person to be around (yes she will make you talk to every single person in whynot, even if that’s an embarrassing interview for their social media).

We can’t wait to have her back as she has been coaching in Canada for the last 3 months 👏👏👏 and can’t wait to see what more she can bring to the team this season… go soph! 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

Next up we have Carlotta, an amazing contribution to the team for the past 2 years. We can’t believe this is her first year on the committee as she was sure to accept the committee of the year award at last years sports ball. *Manifesting her position as treasurer the year coming*

Carlotta is a strong centre back ensuring tackles are made to distract spectators from watching her fall over her own laces. Her highlights are too good to show so a picture of her having a pre-match nap will have to do.

Looking back on last season, we’ve given Carlotta one ⭐ and two wishes (only because we had to be a little critical). Her ⭐ is for continuing to be such a reliable centre back while smashing her daily protein goals. Her wishes are:
1. Attend more socials.
2. Stop lying about her Tesco meal deal (If you can smell a tuna sandwich and boiled egg in the library, just know Carlotta is hard at work.)

When it comes to drinks, tequila is very much hit or miss for Carlotta, and the same can be said for BuzzBalls on a Wednesday night. Our goal this season is to build up her tolerance by making sure she’s consistently turning up to socials.

We’re looking forward to seeing Carlotta back on stage next year—this time as an actual committee member! We can’t wait to see what she brings to the team, both on the pitch and in her new role as Treasurer. Let’s go, Lotta! 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

Next up we have Catie Carter! A huge part of the club over the last three years, Catie is back for her second year on committee as our Wellbeing Officer.

On the pitch, she’s one of our most reliable goal scorers, always finding the back of the net. Off the pitch, though, don’t expect her to understand the rules of even the simplest card game.
Usually found with a pint in hand, Catie always brings the energy, whether she’s turning up to socials dressed as Ali G or heading to her 100th concert.

As she heads into her final year, we’re excited to have her on committee again. We know she’ll do a brilliant job supporting the club while adding a few more hat-tricks to her collection. 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27 🍓

Next up we have Grace Beveridge! After a very successful first year being in the team, we know Grace is the perfect person to lead us for the upcoming season.

Grace currently plays centre midfield, a perfect position to be arguing with the referee for most of the game. You will be able to tell if she’s on the pitch because she is shouting “REF!” every 5 minutes, which has now aloud her to be on first name basis with most referees.

We’re still unsure whether Grace putting herself forward for captain is the result of an identity crisis after the heartbreak Hearts has caused her this season, or simply because she wants to be the lead singer every Wednesday night at Finnegan’s. Either way, we know she’ll do an amazing job! (Hearts FC, please don’t do anything to upset our captain!)

We’re so excited to see what Grace can bring to the team as captain and how she’ll push us throughout the season to reach our full potential!

Heres to a season of ref abuse, belting her heart out on a Wednesday and always mogging, Go grace! 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓
For our next announcement we have the queen of the socials herself…. miss Gabby Shoesmith! After a successful year at the job she just can’t get enough (and neither can we!)

Whether you’re dolled up posing for an instagram pic or in the most embarrassing compromising position of your life you already KNOW our girl will capture many a pic with the best angle and lighting. You will struggle to find Gabby leave the house without her 3 different cameras. But she will ALWAYS ensure the socials are peak.

Gabby is a strong player and over the last season she’s had almost every position on the park thrown at her, but she always puts in an absolute shift and can excel anywhere. She’s a motivational voice within the team and a positive influence on us all :)

Outside of ENWFC you may find Gabby studying hard for her Business and Marketing degree (just probably not in her Thursday classes after a night full of tactical chunders) and finishing a whole semesters worth of powerpoints within the first month, driven off of her coffee addiction🔥

Gabby is our pres queen and is always willing to let the team gather in her flat (avoiding her from ordering the whole spoons menu) 🙏 She always brings the vibes to Wednesday nights- until we inevitably lose her in whynot to some random side quest by 12am.

We are ALL looking forward to seeing how Gabby manages to showcase the next year on our socials and will be following along on the progress, (thanks isla for writing this!)🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

Next up is our star winger, Emma Lawson!
After an outstanding first year attendance at socials (making it to more socials than game-day call times), we thought the combination of Emma and Isla would be the perfect match to take the club’s socials to the next level.
Unfortunately for Emma, accepting the role of Social Secretary means she’ll have to hang up her boots as a Shanghai regular, but we’re excited to see everything she has planned for the upcoming season.
Whether there’s alcohol involved or not, Emma is always showing her appreciation for Aberdeen FC, whether that’s through her chants or by proudly painting “Mon the Dons” on a w**e glass.
We can’t wait to see Emma and Isla working together this season to bring us plenty of themed nights, sober socials, and fundraisers!
(And yes, we’re still just as confused as you are by the fact she doesn’t like a Tesco Meal Deal.) 🍓🍓🍓

🍓Committee announcement 2026/27🍓

We’re kicking off the season by introducing our committee, and first up is our returning Social Secretary, Isla Belford.
After an outstanding first year in the role, Isla is back for a second season as Social Sec — a well-earned return following a year packed with successful nights out, sober socials and fundraisers.
One of the loudest communicators on the pitch and at Finnegan’s Wake during a karaoke night, Isla is just as dangerous at right-back as she is as a Why Not warrior (let’s hope she can go a year without getting kicked out) and designated driver.
You will always find her at her Thursday classes no matter what, or her second home, the library. But don’t let her smartness fool you, she spends her spare time sending 12 year old brain rot memes to the group chat.
This year, she’s hoping to bring even more surprises to the squad, from creative themes to team challenges designed to strengthen the bond within the group. Let’s go Isla!!! 🍓
