Royal Holloway's International Study Centre teaches a university preparation course for international students, giving access to UK higher education.

The International Study Centre at Royal Holloway takes international students who need additional English language and academic tuition and in three terms prepares them to access undergraduate degrees at Royal Holloway. The International Study Centre (ISC) is based on the beautiful University campus and students share accommodation and facilities with all Royal Holloway students, thus immersing th

emselves in the University experience from the first day of their stay. The ISC is run by Study Group on behalf of Royal Holloway. Admissions to the preparation programmes are processed at Study Group Head Quarters which are based in Brighton.

Meet Ayane from Japan 🇯🇵 Student Experience at RHUL ISC ✨

Ayane joined the International Year One programme at RHUL International Study Centre to build the skills and confidence needed for university success. Alongside first-year business modules, she developed her Academic English skills, helping her feel ready to progress into the second year of her degree.

Next year, Ayane will continue her journey in Business Management and is excited to study in the Business School, where she is looking forward to making the most of its excellent facilities. With aspirations to become an entrepreneur, Ayane hopes to create businesses that contribute to human wellbeing and make a positive impact on society.

Beyond the classroom, she has built lasting friendships through her flat, classes, and student societies, making her university experience both rewarding and memorable.

Study electrical engineering at Royal Holloway | Martin’s journey from China
What he enjoys most about studying here?
Martin began his journey at the International Study Centre and is now a third-year Electrical Engineering student at Royal Holloway.

⚡ Practical teamwork experience
The course involves many group projects and assignments, helping students develop strong teamwork and collaboration skills - valuable experience for future careers in engineering.
💻 Comprehensive technical knowledge
Martin has gained knowledge of both software and hardware engineering, including:
• Programming in C++
• Understanding hardware systems and circuits
• Designing and building complete engineering systems

Meet Chun-Ting, an international student balancing academics with life in the fast lane 🏎️💨

He chose Royal Holloway, University of London for its close-knit campus and strong sense of community - the perfect place to study, connect, and recharge.

Alongside his studies, Chun-Ting competes in the European Prototype Series 🏁🔥 With 9 years of racing experience, from karting to professional car racing, he’s been travelling between Taiwan and Europe to chase his passion.

At the Royal Holloway International Study Centre, he’s found supportive teachers and welcoming classmates who help him stay on track - both academically and professionally 🎯

With support from her tutor, Arpi from Lebanon switched from Psychology to Biomedical Sciences - a decision she calls “the best choice of my life.”

Beyond academics, the International Study Centre prepared her for the British education system and gave her the confidence to succeed.
