Science alive! 👩‍🔬

We recently opened up the world of science to curious minds for a day of interactive displays and talks in a packed programme for the Royal Holloway Science Festival.

Around 2,000 visitors of all ages joined in to be inspired and have fun, from seeing the world with VR and interacting with robots, to investigating natural hazards, finding out about nature, examining DNA, exploring the stars and much more.

Thanks to all our visitors and contributors for joining us, and the many colleagues and students who helped make the day such a success.

Cybersecurity for everyone 🔒

Dr Maryam Mehrnezhad’s Lab is providing the evidence-backed research that challenges assumptions and encourages technology and cybersecurity to be made inclusive in design and in practice.

From our smart home devices and the apps we access on the smartphone that’s never far away, we are surrounded by technology. But this expanding network comes with an increasing burden of risk. From peregrine feeding to peregrine hugs 🎥

Who's been enjoying the live stream in the South Tower since our new arrivals? We hear some local schools have been watching too, which is great!

Students and researchers in Biological Sciences Royal Holloway University of London have been monitoring particularly closely, learning more about peregrine nesting and parenting behaviours as the chicks develop.

They may be tiny right now - yet, in no time at all, these chicks will be mastering flight and growing into majestic birds of prey, the fastest in the world.
