We are aware of posts circulating on social media suggesting that submitting a formal complaint may result in accommodation being allocated. We would like to clarify that this is not the case.

Accommodation is allocated in accordance with the University's published policies and allocation processes. Submitting a complaint does not provide priority access to accommodation and does not influence allocation decisions.

As with all enquiries, we consider individual circumstances and provide advice and support where appropriate. From time to time, rooms may become available because of cancellations, students withdrawing from their studies, or other changes in availability.

When accommodation does become available, it is offered in line with the University's allocation process. Priority is given to students covered by the accommodation guarantee and to designated priority groups, including students with approved disability-related accommodation requirements, care leavers, and estranged students. Any available rooms are allocated according to these criteria and room availability, not on the basis of a complaint being submitted.

We appreciate that securing accommodation this year is challenging and understand the concern and uncertainty this may cause for students, their families, and supporters. We remain committed to supporting students in exploring both University-managed and private sector accommodation options and will continue to provide advice and guidance on the accommodation available to them.

We ask that students and supporters rely on information provided directly by the University, as information shared on social media may be inaccurate or misleading.
