Congratulations to our May apprentice of the month, Henry Parmenter! 🎉

Henry is a Building Services Engineering apprentice and works for the engineering design consultancy and planning specialist "Syntegra Group" in their MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) subsidiary, Building Services Group, in Priory Road, Tonbridge.

Congratulating him, Sam Phillips, BSG Senior Electrical Engineer, said: “Henry started out with the company when he completed his Year 12 Work Experience Placement for one week. He made a great impression with his attitude and desire to learn but also how quickly he picked up the tasks we set him."

In 2021, student Nick Quinn joined MidKent College to study Catering & Hospitality, turning his passion for cooking into a new career.

After a successful career as a professional dancer beforehand, Nick decided to retrain and follow a different path. Today, he works in the kitchen of a residential care home in Maidstone and hopes to combine his dance background with his care experience by leading dance sessions for residents️ 😍

Recently, our Hospitality & Catering students took part in a Dragon’s Den-style product development challenge, putting their creativity, teamwork and business skills to the test! 🍽️

Working in teams, students developed their own unique cheesecake concepts as part of a business venture project before pitching their ideas to a panel. From Pistachio & Milk Chocolate and Raspberry & White Chocolate, to Mint Aero, Mango, Fruits of the Forest, Vanilla Crème Brûlée, Banoffee Pie and Crunchie, they showcased fantastic creativity, presentation skills and confidence throughout the challenge 👏

Ourfirst year Level 3 Sport and Sport & Exercise Science students recently had an incredible opportunity to take part in a joint university visit and Wembley Stadium tour, in partnership with UniConnect and the MidKent College Careers Team.

During the visit, students met with UCFB and gained valuable insight into their courses, potential career pathways, and the achievements of their alumni. It was inspiring to hear first-hand about the diverse opportunities available within the sports industry.

A real highlight of the day was seeing how UCFB students benefit from access to Wembley Stadium itself. From using the facilities for learning to engaging with professionals in media, coaching, and the wider sports business environment, it was a fantastic chance to experience the industry in action.

A brilliant and inspiring day for all involved!
