Following recent outbreaks of meningitis in the UK, the MenB vaccine is being offered to some older teenagers and students under 25 who are heading to college for the first time.

MenB can spread through close contact with someone who has the bacteria in the back of their throat. This includes living in the same household, kissing, or sharing drinks or vapes.

Today, we gathered at Riverside Campus for Merchant Navy Day to remember the men and women of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleet who lost their lives in wartime.

Cadets, veterans, families and civic representatives came together for a moving ceremony of remembrance, including readings from the Merchant Navy Roll of Honour, wreath laying and a two-minute silence.

We also recognise the vital contribution of today’s seafarers and the generations of maritime professionals continuing this proud tradition.
