The Engineering Gala Dinner last year was a huge success, and we are on the hunt for a new committee to run the 2026 event!
The Gala's aim is to bring together leading engineering employers with high performing students, academics, and alumni from the University of Strathclyde's Faculty of Engineering. It is a unique event in the UK, providing an opportunity for engineering sector leaders and academics of today to meet those who aspire to follow in their footsteps as the engineering professionals of tomorrow.
Please note that only applications from current third- and fourth-year students (staying in education) will be accepted. These roles will not only shine on your CV but show off your ability to work in a diverse group of engineers towards a common goal. In addition, the event, and liaising with employers, gives you direct contacts within the engineering sector, expanding your network and exposure to potential career paths.
The three available fourth year roles (including the chair position) will be paid (for tasks such as contacting companies and venues).
The third-year roles will directly involve volunteering tasks and charity raffle organisation. Shadowing of the fourth-year roles is encouraged, with the opportunity to lead the 2027 event and become well versed with the prospective companies.
All roles will begin in April/May 2026, until the completion of the event (unless you are staying on for another year). The majority of the workload and contacting can be done flexibly over the summer to fit in around your schedule and work commitments. Assistance will be provided by the Faculty of Engineering throughout the duration of the process, with regular meetings becoming more frequent closer to the event.
If you are interested in applying for the role or have any questions, please email [email protected] with a copy of your CV.
