The University recognises that events in the Middle East and in other parts of the world can impact our students, particularly those with personal, cultural or family connections.

If you are feeling affected, support is available through Student Life, including wellbeing, counselling and pastoral services.

We understand that people will have different perspectives and experiences. We encourage everyone to continue engaging with one another in a respectful and thoughtful way.

If you need support, please do reach out.

Students outside UK with travel impacted:

We are aware some students may be outside of the UK with their return to the UK impacted by the ongoing events in the Middle East. This includes student visa holders with approved time outside UK under the Request To Leave (RTL) process.

If you are in this situation and your travel plans change, please ensure you reach out to Programme Staff as soon as possible to keep them updated and access any required support.

If you are a Student Visa Holder, it is also important you notify the VISA Team of any changes – please email us on [email protected] if this impacts you.

Important announcement from the GCU VISA Team 📢

Student VISA holders will no longer receive an Entry Clearance VISA in their passport ❌

However, it's important international students retain evidence of their UK Entry date as this is required when it comes to registering as a student at GCU 🌍

This evidence can be in the form of a passport entry stamp or boarding pass 🛬

Please ensure you bring this evidence with you when you attend face-to-face registration on campus 💙

ℹ️ Update on vignettes & entering the UK ℹ️

Following on from the UKVI's transition to digital status, students entering the UK may no longer receive a vignette in their passport (temporary visa for entering the UK).

Instead, you will need to create a UKVI account and get access to your eVisa before you travel to the UK. You’ll be told what to do when you apply.

You’ll still get a vignette if you apply as a dependant for any other visa or as a main applicant for visas other than study or work.

Any student entering the UK who does not receive a vignette or get their passport stamped, must retain evidence of their entry in the form of their boarding pass as this will be required for registration.
