This August sixteen Officer Cadets from GSUOTC forming two teams completed Cambrian Patrol. Carrying approximately 35kg weight over 60 kilometres in what is considered NATO’s toughest patrol challenge, the officer cadets completed stands covering battle casualty drills, CBRN, vehicle recognition, recess and the infamous river crossing.

Throughout the entire exercise only three teams completed without losing a team member, GSUOTC formed two of those three teams, a testament to the resilience of our Officer Cadets.

Of our two teams, one returned with a bronze medal and the other with a certification of completion, an amazing result especially considering the stormy conditions.

In July of 2025 a group of 9 OCDTs and 1 Staff Member had the opportunity participate in the Nijmegen 4 Day Marches.

Whilst in Europe they had a day in the historical city of Ypres where they visited various museums, observed the Last Post and took a day trip to Tyne Cot, the largest Commonwealth War Museum in the world.

Once arriving in Nijmegen the team had plenty of time to unwind partaking in some sensible fun in the beer tent before undertaking the marches.

In April, three of our Officer Cadets took part in Exercise Wyvern Storm 2025; a week-long adventurous training expedition focused on skiing, held alongside University Officer Training Corps (UOTCs) from across the UK.

The exercise provided a valuable opportunity to develop their skiing skills while making new friends with fellow officer cadets. They also had the chance to engage with REME officers and soldiers, gaining first-hand insight into the roles and responsibilities within the Corps.
