It is often difficult to find the time and space to devote to writing. Therefore, we are offering an intensive writing weekend aimed at researchers (students or staff) who would like to benefit from a supported environment to assist in the progression of a piece of writing. Support, mentoring and motivation (!) will be available from senior academics and the Researcher Development Programme team. This is an excellent opportunity to progress with thesis chapters, journal articles, funding bids, confirmation reports, or PhD proposals, away from the distractions of everyday life.
Please complete the application form https://www.surrey.ac.uk/form/webform-127161.
Dates:
•Applications are due June 6th.
•Applicants will be notified w/c June 11th if they received a place
•Confirmation of your place will be required by June 18th
•Waitlisted applicants will be notified w/c June 18th if space is available
Please note:
•This is an intensive two-day course held on the University campus, during which you will have large blocks of time for writing. This writing time will be complemented by short workshops and sessions with your assigned “writing mentor”
•It is ideal if you can commit to both days; however, you may register for only one if necessary. When registering please indicate which day(s) you would like to attend
•Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the day. For those travelling from a distance (more than 2 hours) we can provide accommodation on a first come, first served basis (email [email protected])

Please email [email protected] further details or questions

Please list three specific writing targets or aims that you have for the Writing Retreat. These targets should reflect what you will spend your time doing whilst at the retreat (e.g. what will you do on the first morning?) and be SMART. Find out more about writing SMART objectives.
