University of Surrey Zoological Society This page is for anyone with an interest in all the weird and wonderful animals! We have been a grou Please watch this space for our announcements.

The University of Surrey Zoological Society aims to educate, inspire and enthuse the next generation of exotic vets and conservation warriors. We are now thrilled to be our own society and open our events to the ENTIRE University! We welcome students studying any subject to join us for our zoo themed socials, events, trips and talks on these weird and wonderful animals. Previously, we have focused

our talks on exotic/zoo/conservation medicine, targeted at Vet and Biovet students. These session will still continue to add some much needed and highly demanded exotics content to our courses. We plan to add additional opportunities for Vet and Biovet students (but all courses are still welcome if interested) such as laboratory practicals on exotic samples and workshops with leading wildlife/zoo veterinarians. However, we will now also be running more mainstream talks such as those related to exotic animal husbandry for those with exotic pets, exciting overseas opportunities to work with exotic wildlife and more! For the first time ever, ZooSoc will now be running social events such as bar crawls, themes clubbing nights and movie nights on main campus, to encourage students from all courses to attend. We are also planning trips to local zoos, exotic handling practicals and hoping to take a group of our members to Chessington! As always, we will be collaborating closely with our parent society VetSoc to provide linked events and even a discounted membership for those wishing to join both societies (details TBC). We are also excited to collaborate with other University societies and groups this year, with plans already made with the Animal Neighbours project, as well as PetSoc and IceSoc! If you belong to a society and would like to collaborate on an event with us, please get in touch. We would love to work with you! If you would like to find out more about the society, follow us here, PM us, or email us at [email protected]. We are always keen to hear from people who share our passion for exotic animals!
