Hey everyone!
Tonight we have a games night starting on teams and moving onto discord. We begin at 6:30pm. If you're new to the society and not currently a part of our mailing list and want to come along to try, message us and we will send you all the links you need. Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone!

It's been a long while since we've had an update on this page.
If you're a fresher on this page, welcome to Surrey! And if you're returning for another year, welcome back!
We apologise if we've missed any messages on Facebook or any emails, but if you do have any inquiries about the society, you can email us at [email protected]. Alternatively you can email me separately at [email protected]. I will make sure that any new emails or messages get answered.

I'm currently editing the website so hopefully we will get a fully functioning website again by freshers fair.

This year, we hope that despite the restrictions due to covid, that we can still be a fully functioning society and host events online and in person. More information about events will come soon.

For now, I hope to see you all in the near future! This year we will be using Teams more frequently, but I will update Facebook and send out emails as much as I can.

Please see below details of a dissertation project that we have been invited to take part in - really good opportunity to get your views heard (anonymously) and help shape future university experiences for people with ASD. You will also be entered into a FREE PRIZE DRAW with a range of Amazon vouchers up for grabs. Please have a read and get in contact with either myself or Helen if you are interested☺️

Dear members of AutiSoc,

My name is Helen and I am a masters student in psychology. I am currently doing a dissertation on the experiences of university students with ASD and believe that members of this society would be in an ideal position to provide valuable first-hand information from your own perspectives. My project is focused on the social experiences of university students with ASD and focuses mainly on friendships and the disclosure of ASD to others.

If you are have an ASD diagnosis I would like to invite you to take part in this research project, which will involve a short questionnaire and answering some questions in an interview format (lasting approximately 30 minutes, but could be shorter or longer depending on how much you wish to share). As well as covering the topics listed above you will also have the opportunity to talk about any other aspects of your university experience that you feel might be relevant, including your participation in AutiSoc. Your responses to the questions will be anonymous and no personally identifying information will be included in the write up of the report. By taking part in this study you will be able to voice your personal experiences, adding to knowledge within this area and possibly influencing future research which could bring benefits to students with ASD.

If you take part you will also be entered into a FREE PRIZE DRAW. Participants will be entered into a FREE PRIZE DRAW. There will be 3 prizes: AMAZON VOUCHERS WORTH £50, £30 AND £20. This is a small study (approx. 10 volunteers) so there is a good chance of winning!

I would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to participate. It will be very relaxed and you would only answer questions that you want to. I am available from any time now onwards – I’m aware its coming up to exam season and everyone is very busy but it shouldn’t take too much of your time! If you would like to take part after exams then I am around then too – I will probably start writing up in mid July so any time up til then. I drive so if it would prefer for me to travel to you instead of meeting on campus then that’s possible too. If you would be willing to help or would just like to find out more with no obligation, please contact me at [email protected].

Many thanks,

Helen
