✨ Meet Ali Al Kindi ✨
A Cardiff University graduate, now a Full Stack Developer at Trifork 🚀
“Before starting my Applied Software Engineering course, I studied at the International Study Centre. Studying Academic English at the ISC was invaluable preparation for beginning my undergraduate degree. It made researching, understanding, and writing academic reports much easier, and helped bridge the gap between school‑style learning and university‑level study. As a result, I felt confident and well prepared when I joined the first year of my course at Cardiff University.
The course content itself was what inspired me to apply to and study at Cardiff University. The style of teaching - particularly in Applied Software Engineering - gave me the practical skills I now use in industry, with a strong focus on applied learning rather than theory alone.
I continue to use the real‑world skills taught during my course as I build my career. I can clearly see how the tools and approaches I learned have helped set me apart in the industry and enabled me to apply them effectively in a professional environment.
I now use what I learned daily in my role as a front‑end developer at Trifork. While studying at Cardiff, I completed two summer internships in the tech industry, and after graduating I worked as a developer at a start‑up. All of these experiences helped lead me to my current role.
The industry is incredibly exciting, and I’m learning new things every day. I’m grateful to Cardiff University for equipping me with skills that I continue to use on a daily basis.
To anyone about to start their journey at Cardiff University, my advice would be: enjoy the journey - you’ll miss it when it’s over.”
