Understanding Disability and Sport in Scotland Research, MRes opportunity.

It is well known that people with a disability are less likely to participate in sport as their disability presents a number of additional barriers. While recognising this, it is still poorly understood how these barriers directly impact across the range of disabilities. In addition this project aims to develop a deeper understanding of the sport provision landscape in Scotland and document examples of good practice.
This research focused on disability and sport takes a wide-ranging investigative approach that seeks to link experiential insight to policy and practice to suggest potential strategic options for improved provision. Its ambitions are framed by a recognition of the complexity and heterogeneity of the disability experience in its relationship with community sport.
We are offering an opportunity to contribute to this research project and obtain a MRes with tuition fees paid for you. This project is funded by the Observatory for Sport in Scotland (www.oss.scot) supported by the Peter Harrison Foundation who will play a key part in its delivery. You will join the UWS team of Prof's Richard Davison and Gayle McPherson and Dr Liz Carlin to assist in the data collection for this 12-month project. In addition you will be supported by the the team at OSS who will assist with their links to key stakeholders.
We are looking for graduates with and interest in sport and or disability who have experience in both quantitative and qualitative methodology. In particular the development of and analysis of questionnaires, running of and analysis of focus groups and interviews. You should have experience in the use of appropriate research software ie Excel, SPSS, SAS, Jamovi or NVivo.
The deadline for applying for this position is the 30th June (apply here https://ossdisability.questionpro.com) and we will interview shortlisted candidates on the 6th July.
