Hey guys!!

We apologise for the lack of session last week, but we’re back this week! We’re planning on doing a photowalk this week (if the weather allows it…) near Lancaster canal.

We’ll meet at the bus station, then decide on our route and get walking. Depending on how everyone feels, we might either stop off at the end or along the way for a drink of some kind. As always, please dress appropriately for walking and keep your eyes on the weather forecast!

Hey guys!!
Our session this week follows on from our last week’s practical workshop on editorial photography. With that being said though, it’s not necessary to this session that you were at the last one! You’re more than welcome to use any other photos that you’ve taken.

We’re looking to make mock magazine covers using Canva, which we’ll then compile into a zine and print out! We’ll also give some guidance on how to actually make zines (eg formatting, sizing). This session is about a lot of experimenting, so we definitely encourage you to try come up with your own zine ideas.

We hope to see you guys on Thursday, make sure to bring a laptop/Ipad - anything that can run Canva - as that is the software we’re planning to use! 🕺📸

Hi guys!

We have a Thursday session this week - and it’s a two parter! This first session is a shooting session (not with a gun). We’ll quickly look at some examples of editorial photos/magazine covers, then we’ll try and replicate them ourselves. We’re going to hire out some lighting equipment/tripods/backgrounds to enhance the photos :))

Our session next week will follow on from this, with us using free software like canva to try and make our own mock magazine covers, which will then be turned into zines!!

Hey guys!!

We’re having another photowalk this week - this time around Lancaster Castle and the Priory. We’ll spend about an hour walking about and taking photos, and then we’ll go find a nice cafe to sit in and have a nice debrief of the session :)

Hi guys!!

We’re kicking of this term with a photowalk at the lovely Williamson Park!!
The plan is to meet at the Spar in Bowerham at 12, and then walk up towards the park as a group. We’ll take our time walking around the park, as there’s plenty of gorgeous spots to take photos, both in and around the Ashton Memorial (the centre point).

The weather is forecasted to be cloudy, so make sure you dress accordingly (we’ll keep an eye out for any rain). Also given that we’re going to be walking around for a while wear some shoes that are comfortable to walk in - when stopping at the different stops we will get a chance to rest. Feel free to bring any snacks or drinks!!

Hey guys!!
For our last session of the term we’re going to be doing some festive photography! We’re going to have a few different stations set up (portraiture, still life, experimenting with a projector) in order to have a nice, fun practical session. So feel free to bring any festive accessories along with you - Christmas jumpers are encouraged :)🎄📸

Furthermore - we’re having a social straight after the session. A Wii night!! We’ll probably have a little bit of competition, but it’s mostly about having fun together 👾

Hi guys!!
This week our session is going to be a bit different - this Sunday (the 300th) we’re going to take a day trip to Heysham and get some cool photos!! 📸🏞️🎞️

The plan for Sunday is to meet at Lancaster Bus station for 11:15 AM (just so we’re all definitely there on time) to catch the 11:31 AM 2X to Heysham . We’ll then get off in the village and follow a circular coastal trail through Heysham. Along the way we’re going to stop off at landmarks such as the ruins of St Patrick’s Chapel and the dock of the power station.

Make sure to wrap up warm because it’s Lancaster and it’s getting closer to winter it’s likely going to be very chilly! Especially being on the coast. Also make sure to wear shoes that are suitable for walking in, we aren’t going to be trekking up mountains but you still want to be comfortable!

Hi guys!!
Our regular Thursday session this week is focused on editing using Lightroom - specifically the free version of LR mobile. It’ll discuss navigating the settings and options you have to adjust photos for free, as well as giving you a chance to experiment with the software. This will be slightly more complex in comparison to our last editing workshop - but still uses a more accessible software🕺

We ask that you pretty please come to this session with your phones and Lightroom already downloaded as it requires you to create an account ‼️
