What can we learn about group therapy by experiencing it ourselves?

Join Adrienne Lee TSTA(P) this November for three days of experiential learning at The Berne Institute’s TA Intensive Therapy Group.
Bringing together personal therapeutic work and professional learning, this group offers the opportunity to explore how change happens within a group, both through your own experience and through reflection on the therapeutic process.

You’ll explore how to establish a safe setting, work with group dynamics, and support individual change through the whole group.
Especially recommended for counsellors and psychotherapists in TA training.

17-19th November 2026
In person at Berne House, Kegworth
Cost: £600

The group may count towards group therapy or accredited advanced TA training hours, subject to your Principal Supervisor’s approval.

These groups are often oversubscribed, so early booking is recommended.

There is a structure behind how we communicate, relate, and fall into patterns.

TA101 is the starting point for anyone curious about Transactional Analysis: a practical, thought-provoking introduction to the ideas that can help us understand ourselves, our relationships, and the ways we make meaning of the world around us.

Over three days at Berne House, you’ll explore ego states, communication, attachment, life scripts, psychological games, and much more, in a welcoming space designed for reflection and learning.

No previous qualifications or experience are needed. TA101 is open to anyone with an interest in TA, whether you work in therapy, teaching, management or communications, or are simply curious about yourself and others.

The official TA101 is recognised by ITAA and EATA, and provides the certificate required should you later wish to begin accredited TA training.

We are delighted to welcome Bev Gibbons to join us as the mutual respect network in October. She will be hosting a seminar and discussion around intuition, how it is amputated as a means to survive, and what this means for our relationships.

We began the new academic year with a training day exploring Dreams and Fantasy.

The day opened with The Berne’s leadership team and tutors introducing themselves and welcoming our students. We were also delighted to welcome Helen Bailey, who has joined The Berne as a shadow tutor and delivered a magnificent first teaching session on fantasy.

We ended the day with a Social Dreaming Matrix, sharing dreams and allowing connections, themes, and new meanings to emerge across the group.

Participants in this course must have successfully completed a training in counselling, coaching, psychotherapy, or a related profession, or have an equivalent level of training and experience; have a minimum of a year's experience post-qualification; be a member of a professional body, and have professional indemnity insurance.
