That's all folks, academic year 2024/2025 has come to a close. It has been a really great year, with the majority of learners gaining qualifications. I wanted to take the time to thank all of the staff, without who the organisation just could not function. Thank you to all the schools, parents/carers and other professionals that we work with. Above all, thank you to this year's cohort of learners who have been absolutely great, and reminds us of why we do the job we do.

Motorvation re-opens for learners on Wed 3rd Sept 2025. We will see you then👍🏻

Panels on both sides of the building now. The fitters have been doing extremely well, they look cold and tired but are doing a barnstormer job.

We have been asked if we knew there was a £10,000 government grant for investing in clean energy. We certainly do know, but the downside is getting tied up and drowning in government red tape. Paying for everything ourselves means we do not have to ko-tow to government, and we are fully in charge of our project.

With our utility bills rocketing over the last few years, the directors decided that the organisation needed to become future proof, and so commissioned East Yorkshire Solar to fit out the roof with a solar panel array. When this equipment is fitted, our reliance on energy from National Grid will become almost zero, plus with us only being open for 190 days of the year, the other 175 days will generate power for National Grid. In just under 3 years the system will pay for itself, which means money can be invested back into the long term education of our learners. No more contributing to utility company dividends, and no more paying VAT to "Rachel From Accounts".👍

Your Exhaust Isn’t Just Blowing Smoke—It’s Telling a Story"

This week, students have been learning about exhausts, including practical elements of removing, inspecting and replacing a full exhaust system.

🚗 What’s your exhaust trying to tell you? Smoke isn’t just a byproduct—it’s a warning sign. Here’s what different colors of smoke mean:

⚪ White Smoke: Could indicate coolant in the combustion chamber—potential head gasket issues.

⚫ Black Smoke: Your engine might be running rich, burning too much fuel. Time to check the injectors or air filters.

🔵 Blue Smoke: Likely a sign of oil entering the combustion chamber. Valve seals or piston rings may need attention.

🛠️ Diagnose Early: Each puff of smoke is your car’s way of communicating. Spotting the issue early saves you time and money.

"Why Exhaust Leaks Are More Dangerous Than You Realise"

🚨 Think an exhaust leak is just noise? Think again. 🚨
Exhaust leaks are silent threats lurking under your car. Here's why they should never be ignored:

🛑 Carbon Monoxide Danger: Leaks can let harmful gases like carbon monoxide seep into the cabin—odourless, but deadly.
🔧 Performance Problems: Leaks disrupt backpressure, robbing your engine of efficiency and power.
💸 Fuel Economy Impact: A leak can cause your engine to work harder, burning more fuel and costing you more.
✅ Temporary vs. Permanent Fixes: Learn to spot a leak early and address it properly before it worsens.

💡 Pro Tip: Regularly inspect your exhaust system for cracks or corrosion. Early detection saves lives—and money.
