The results are in!

After surveying 200 students on Monday, the results suggest that 97.5% of participants think the University should have inclusive spaces such as that of a quiet or sensory space.

Part of my work this year is working in collaboration with staff and students to find a way to have spaces like this on campus. Currently, I am helping staff within my faculty to draft a proposal for a Student Staff Partnership Project that will look into the development of such a space, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

If you’re about on campus today, why not pop into Student Central and say hello! I’m currently doing some data collecting and engaging with student voice to see if sensory or quiet spaces are wanted on campus. This data will be collated with data from a Microsoft Form that went out to all FACE students over the weekend when considering future plans.

And just to sweeten the pot, for every voter we have sweets!

Did you know…?
On the second floor of Student Central there are some postboxes located near the lift. This was repurposed last year after the former Rep for Neurodivergence put a motion into Union Council to make it a place for students to contact the reps anonymously.

This has the added benefit of ensuring all students can have their voices heard, if they prefer not to speak directly to a rep or find it difficult.
If you have anything you’d like to speak to me about or if you have any feedback, please make sure you put your thoughts into a marked envelope and address it to the FACE faculty rep or by my name. If you provide your name and student email, then I will endeavour to reply as soon as I can; or if you’d prefer to keep yourself anonymous then please do so but be aware I may not be able to help as effectively.

Had a really enriching meeting with representatives from the Teaching Excellence Academy and from HUSU to explore the idea of creating a competency framework to support the professional skill development of student volunteers!

I’m really excited to keep working with the staff in our Student Voice teams and fellow students to find ways to enhance the course rep experience.

Equally, in my scope as Faculty Rep I am looking to meet with FACE course reps to identify personal goals that can be worked on throughout the year, and provide fun opportunities to develop in lots of different ways!

It's World Mental Health Day!

Having gone through an undergraduate degree, I'm no stranger to the stresses of being a student. On World Mental Health Day I'd just like to signpost students to services that the university can offer to students to support their mental health.
