BUSINESS & FINANCE ALUMNI - Ruby Gurnell’s Journey
After completing her studies at Wilberforce College, Ruby is now working as a Finance Apprentice at Cranswick Country Foods, gaining valuable industry experience while continuing her professional qualifications.
“My teachers at Wilberforce were the best support system I could have asked for during my time at the college. I owe my results and progression to them. I couldn’t have done it without them. I always had a place to go for anything I needed, whether that was to laugh, rant, study, ask questions or get advice.”
Since leaving Wilberforce, Ruby has spent the past 18 months rotating through a variety of finance roles at Cranswick Country Foods, including accounts payable, labour and accounts receivable, while also successfully completing four study modules as part of her apprenticeship.
“Completing my A Levels at Wilberforce developed my determination, adaptability and confidence, all of which I’ve been able to apply in the workplace.”
Looking ahead, Ruby hopes to gain exposure to different departments and sites across the company to develop a deeper understanding of the business and explore future career opportunities within the industry.
Choosing the right sixth form is an important step in your child’s future. At Wilberforce, students are supported to develop confidence, resilience and real-world skills that prepare them for careers, apprenticeships and higher education opportunities like Ruby’s.
