Fans of Celebrity Strictly Come Dancing can cheer on 1987 University of Hull graduate Graeme Hall (BA Hispanic Studies) this year. The television presenter and best-selling author, better known as 'The Dogfather', has been announced in the lineup for 2026.

Graeme told the BBC: “I can't believe I am joining the cast of Strictly for 2026. I have always loved dancing, so to have the opportunity to learn from the best in the business is a dream come true."

She rose to fame as Britain's best-loved barmaid, Shelley Unwin, in Coronation Street, but caught the acting bug here at the University of Hull where she studied English Language and Literature in 1995. This October, Sally Lindsay MBE will return to campus to deliver this year's Barbara Canham Turner Lecture.

The star and co-creator of The Madame Blanc Mysteries, who was also a regular panellist on ITV talk show Loose Women, will be reflecting on a career that has seen her become one of British television's most recognised faces on-screen and an influential figure off-screen.

Who remembers their Rag Week?

Our Centenary Archives Photo Project alumni volunteers have given us a glimpse at the treasures they've been unearthing from the archives. Today we have a little look at a selection of the Rag Parade images that have been digitised from Rag '66. We've got Batman, an Egg, Mother Feren's Shoe, and some other images that we can't quite figure out.

"A journey that was fundamentally shaped by the University of Hull."

We caught up with Matthew Jason Brown who was awarded a British Empire Medal this year in recognition of his remarkable commitment to public service and his local community.

Matthew first graduated with a BA (Hons) Business and Management from our Scarborough campus in 2008, before completing an MA in Globalization and Governance on our main campus in 2011, and he was very clear about how Hull played an important role in his development and his desire to make a difference.
