Joining our is the amazing Tom Brewer, who is currently a Trainee Solicitor with the BBC. Tom graduated with an LL.B Law (Commercial) degree from Lancaster Law School in 2022. He went on to pursue an LL.M degree with us, graduating with a Distinction in 2023.

After graduating, and prior to starting with the BBC, Tom worked as a Lecturer in Law at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Alongside this, he was also actively involved with the Commonwealth Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association, which saw him presenting papers to Chief Magistrates from across the Commonwealth and being invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of his contributions to the Commonwealth. What an inspiration!

First week of Law School, and already behind bars?! 😂

Not quite. Yesterday, as part of Welcome Week, a number of our first year Law students enjoyed a visit to the Lancashire Police Museum. Two tours were provided, with the Museum’s Curator offering an introduction to the prison in which the museum is based at Lancaster Castle (a working prison until 2011). Students then had opportunity to learn either about Law and Order in 19th Century Lancashire or Lancashire Constabulary and Buck Ruxton.

Exhibitions included examples of a current prison cell, police uniforms visitors could try on, and a history of women in the police force. All exhibitions are displayed in the cells of the former prison.

Pictured are our students, along with School Lecturers, Tina McKee, Dr Sarah Gilmartin and Dr Tom Peck.

We would like to thank for the informative visit and the gift bags!

“What do your graduates go on to do?”

This is a question we are often asked. In Molly’s case, LOADS!

Molly Chambers graduated from Lancaster University with an LL.B Law (Hons) (Study Abroad) in 2024. After graduating, Molly spent three months travelling across South East Asia and Australia, making unforgettable memories. Upon returning, she completed a 3.5 week summer internship with DLA Piper and was subsequently offered a Training Contract with them!

Molly says: “I couldn’t be where I am today without my time in Lancaster. The support from the whole law school team was incredible and I always felt that I was pushed to the best of my abilities. I particularly enjoyed my time working with the Legal Clinic as it was a way to give back to the local community whilst gaining immeasurable experience for my career.”

The world is your oyster Molly, and we are thrilled for you!

Allow us to introduce you to some of the incredible Law Students who graduated recently. We asked them to share their most memorable experiences at Lancaster Law School, and this is what they told us:

1. Aleks Strychala: “I enjoyed the annual mooting competition and completing my dissertation with the help of Dr. Jeremy Letwin. My research in psychiatric injury has provided me with a strong foundation for future practice.”

2. Daria Ionescu Bunghez: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Lancaster, more than I ever imagined I could. I have received immense support from the Law School and Grow Your Future during my time here, in both academic and work opportunities. I will always remember the skills I have gained and the memories I have made.”

3. Emily Parrott: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lancaster Law School – from thought-provoking seminars to the incredible support of the academic staff, it’s been an inspiring and unforgettable journey.”

4. Gabriella Oppong: “My time at Lancaster was absolutely lovely! I studied a course whilst not being very confident in my writing. However, during my time here I was able to come out of my comfort zone, gain feedback and improve whilst engaging with the things that I believe in such, as advocating for a more inclusive curriculum. I’ve grown in confidence in my writing but also employability skills.”

5. Kathleen Humphrey: “I can’t choose, there are so many memorable experiences I’ve had at Lancaster with the most amazing people.”

Many congratulations, Class of 2025!! 👏

Next up in our series is Asam Mahmood, future Trainee Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell!

Asam graduated from Lancaster Law School in 2022, and has worked as a paralegal at three of the UK’s Top 30 law firms while completing his LPC. He is thrilled to have been offered a training contract with a top law firm, Irwin Mitchell.

Asam says: "Studying Law at Lancaster was a great experience for me, particularly as the lecturers were incredibly supportive and really focused on helping us develop real, practical legal skills. What truly set the experience apart, however, was the diverse and welcoming community, in which I met law students from all walks of life and constantly learned from those around me. Not to mention, the campus had such a homely feel - it made those dreaded 9am lectures a whole lot easier to face!"

Congrats Asam - we are very proud of you!
