Dr BingBing Ge has received a First-prize (Best Paper Award) award at the the 19th International Symposium of Entrepreneurship and Family Business for her co-authored paper “Like Father Like Son: How Perceived Parental Mentoring Strategies Shape Successors’ Entrepreneurial Identity in Chinese Family Businesses”. Congratulations!

A new paper by Dr Allan Discua Cruz, Professor Eleanor Hamilton, Dr Giovanna Campopiano and Professor Sarah Jack explores how women’s strengths as innovators, facilitators, bridge builders, and money managers emerged during times of trouble and helps preserve family business continuity.

Even in countries where men dominate, women proved to be innovators in times of crisis, a Honduras study showed.

Family businesses from across Lancashire’s tourism sector addressed the challenges they each face at an event hosted by Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). Participants benefited from the insights of CFB Director Dr Allan Discua Cruz, Dr Andreas Strobl and Brian Gregory, who have worked with family firms from the UK, Austria, Honduras and beyond on the concerns and opportunities they encounter.

A recent study, focusing on understanding the connection between religion and international team, conducted by an international team, including Dr. Allan Discua Cruz, reveals that normative (religious) commitments – a sense of moral duty and action influenced by religion – and a high-religiosity context – where religion permeates diverse aspects of life – lead to behaviors that are perceived as rational and normative. Last week we had the pleasure of having Dr. James Cunningham (Robert Gordon University) as invited guest speaker at the Centre for Family Business. His topic Family entrepreneurship in the community:
moral authority or hostage to context? provided attendees with current insights and questions related to the field of family business. The seminar provided a space to discuss aspects of family, entrepreneurship and our immediate environment. We look forward to having Dr. Cunningham visiting us again in the near future.
