This year has been challenging for everyone, and the Chemistry Society is no different - while we had to delay hustings for a new exec last year, we looking for new exec members again!
We have all positions available inc. president, vice-president, treasurer, social sec and general sec along with media and comms
Being an exec member is a valuable role and allows you to give back to the Chemistry department here in Lancaster
ChemSoc is a small society so while you won't be rushed of your feet with responsibilities, you can make it your own with socials and other activities!
If you are interested in any of the roles, please don't hesitate to drop us a message and the same goes to any questions you may have 😃

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING HUSTINGS

Hi everyone,

In light of the decision made by the University to suspend all teaching from Monday the 16th of March, LUSU will be cancelling all society events and activities from this date until the end of term.

Unfortunately this means the Chemsoc hustings scheduled for Thursday the 19th March will not be able to take place.

We understand this will be disappointing for those of you who have expressed interest, but hopefully we will be able to host them at the beginning of next term if everything returns to normal. If any new information comes to light then we will aim to make you aware ASAP.

Here’s a little reminder of just a few events Chemsoc have hosted over the year!!

🧪 The free lunch was a great way for our members to de-stress (and get some free food)

🧪 Our ‘Red for Roses’ social helped everyone get in the mood before the big weekend

🧪 We were at the 2020 Freshers fair ready to meet some potential new members and all our lovely first years!!

🧪 We collaborated with other FST societies to host a huge campus bar crawl!!

Our dear chemsoc members, the time has come for us to pass on the flaming vial of t-BuLi to the next lucky group of exec members !!!

Some of you will have had an email from Steve about hustings already, but just in case here’s everything you need to know!

• president
- overseeing the society and communicating with LUSU

• vice president
- supporting the president in running the society and covering for them if they are unavailable

• general secretary
- taking minutes at meetings and communicating with the RSC

• treasurer
- managing the societies finances

• social secretary
- planning socials and events for the society including nights out and guest lectures

• communications officer
- maintaining social media presence and communicating with society members

get in touch with your exec members! either by messaging the page, messaging us individually, emailing or commenting on this post.

just let us know what role you’re interested in and we’ll make a note, if there are multiple applications for any role you may have to prepare a short argument for why you should be chosen!

running chemsoc is a lot of fun, relaxed and looks amazing on cvs and applications!! ✨
