The International Centre for Sports History and Culture was established at De Montfort University in 1996 and is today widely acknowledged as the leading centre for the study of sport history in the world. A big thank you to everyone at Leicester City Football Club who made our The FIFA Master class field visit possible this week and for making all of the group so welcome.

We are extremely proud of our 27 year FIFA Master course link with the Foxes and that bond remains with our global alumni community long after graduation.

Good luck for the remainder of the season to both the Leicester City Football Club men's LCFC Women teams.

When you turn The FIFA Master classroom into a museum.

A massive thank you to Leicester City Football Club Historian, John Hutchinson, for sharing over 100 years of football club history with the FIFA Master 27th edition class yesterday morning as part of our International Centre for Sports History and Culture (ICSHC) Humanities of Sport module.

We are extremely proud that John is also an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow here at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture, De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).

With the recent news that Spain has emerged as the leading candidate to host the 2035 men’s rugby union world cup – and with the final at the new 105,000-capacity Nou Camp in Barcelona – it was perfect timing for our The FIFA Master 27th edition class field visit to Rugby School this month.

A huge thank you to everyone at the school who made the visit possible and for making us so welcome. The visit is always a highlight of the International Centre for Sports History and Culture year.

‘100 Years of PAOK: Football and Society’

Last week International Centre for Sports History and Culture (ICSHC) Director Professor Matt Taylor gave a keynote lecture in Greece to mark PAOK FC’s centenary year. His paper was titled, 'Beyond Borders and Boundaries: European Society and the Making of Modern Football'.

The club was established on 20 April 1926 in Thessaloniki by Greek refugees who fled Constantinople following the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922).
