Our students aspiring to study veterinary medicine recently visited the Lancashire Farm Education Centre to gain valuable insight into the management and operation of a modern dairy farm.

The experience provided students with an excellent opportunity to see the practical application of science and technology within modern farming and offered valuable insight into careers within veterinary medicine and animal management. Once again we would like to thank the Lancashire Farm Education Centre for such an informative and engaging visit.

Our Runshaw College Year 2 A Level Chemistry students recently took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad, where they completed an extremely challenging written paper.

This paper requires them to apply their understanding of Chemistry to real-world situations and concepts, and challenges their problem solving skills to their limits. Our students did amazingly well, achieving one gold award (the top 8.5% nationwide), three silver awards and one bronze award. Congratulations to all our students!

This academic year, 12 of our Year 2 A Level Chemistry students have acted as peer mentors for Year 1 students. Through this role, our students developed a wide range of skills, including structured problem‑solving, clear scientific communication, leadership and confidence, while deepening their own subject knowledge and ability to apply key chemical concepts.

The impact on our Year 1 students has been outstanding: 50% of those mentored improved their grades, including 27% who progressed by two or more grades over the course of the year. A huge thank you to all involved for your commitment, enthusiasm and hard work throughout the year.

Our Enrichment Team recently organised 15 ‘Exam Mastery’ workshops delivered by Positively You.

The workshop helped relieve exam stress and offered tips on revision techniques. These fast-paced interactive sessions also helped students to learn how to improve memory skills and increase self-confidence.
