LJMU graduate Social Worker presents research at Liverpool Independent Fostering Panel training

LJMU Social Work degree apprenticeship graduate Col Matthews was invited to present her dissertation findings last week at a development day for Liverpool‘s Independent Fostering Panel.

Col’s dissertation explored preparedness of care leavers to move to independence and adulthood and was entitled: 'Transitioning to Adulthood: A qualitative systematic literature review into the preparedness of looked after children and adult care leavers in England’.

The development day was attended by Independent Panel members, social workers and social work students.

LJMU lecturer in Social Work, Mel Hills described Col’s presentation as "absolutely brilliant, all of the social workers and panel members there were busily taking notes and asking questions.”

Today, on International Nurses Day, we proudly celebrated the incredible contribution of nurses past, present, and future at Liverpool John Moores University Health.

What a truly wonderful event it was — bringing together staff, students, alumni, ex nurses, and supporters to recognise the compassion, dedication, and impact of the nursing profession. We were honoured to be joined by Simon Browes from the Royal College of Nursing, whose presence helped make the day even more special.

A huge thank you also to Mersey Voices Choir for their fantastic performance and to Nationwide Therapy Dogs for bringing smiles, comfort, and joy to everyone attending.

It was an amazing celebration filled with appreciation, connection, and pride — a fitting tribute to the nursing community and the difference they make every single day. ThankYouNurses
