Notably, within the School of Environmental Sciences, Geography is ranked 41st globally, and Oceanography is within the top 100, securing 4th place in the UK.

Sad news: we recorded the recent passing of Dr Robert (Bob) Pullan, former Senior Lecturer (Geography), who retired in 1993.
He taught biogeography in the department from 1964 to 1993, with a specialist interest in soils in tropical Africa. He came to Liverpool after service in the soil survey in Nigeria. His Liverpool PhD thesis in 1970 was entitled 'Contributions to the study of the soils, landforms and quaternary evolution of the Chad basin and Middle Niger Valley, Nigeria’.

Our condolences go to his wife Margaret and Bob’s family.
