It is with great sadness that we share the news that Bill Sheasgreen, former Director of the Ithaca College London Center and stalwart member of AASAP/UK, passed away earlier in March.

The Ithaca College London Center will hold a celebration of his life and memory on June 18, 2026 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Thank you to alum, Andrew O’Neill Spring '84, who sent us photos connected with a class he took during his time at ICLC, Marxism: A Centenary Course. Read below to see what he said!

“Going from left to right, you have a student (Amy Weber — I think!), another student (he looks familiar but I don’t remember a name), Brian Taylor (Economics), Eva Gamarnikow (Sociology), and Bill Sheasgreen (History). In addition to the class sessions and field trips, one or maybe all three of the teachers created an interesting Victorian Parlour Game with trivia related to Marx, Engels, and Marx’s daughters Eleanor and Jenny.

The aim of three teachers for this one course was to examine Marx’s ideas through his own writings, exploring history (Bill Sheasgreen), sociology (Eva Gamarnikow), and economics (Brian Taylor). Very interesting stuff, and three very good teachers. The syllabus even broke down what was being explored, and who specifically was doing the teaching, on each and every day of the course throughout the entire semester. I am glad I took this course, and the approach used was one of the highlights of my time at the ICLC”
