Magazine Cover Competition

ITALIANS LONDON STYLE magazine - a fresh lifestyle book-magazine that successfully manages to fuse together the very best of Italian topics with the British sense of humour.

Fresh, innovative, a new concept! Not your usual glossy magazine but a book-magazine, a new generation of collectable magazines that perfectly manages to balance writing and images. Inside you can find all Italian - inspired contents from great topics such as: fashion, art, architecture, design and much more.

ITALIANS LDN Magazine is the Manifesto of EAT DRINK LOVE ITALIAN
Biannual publication – Summer & Winter issue.
For more information visit us at: www.itomg.london

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For our first Issue we chose a DUCK as symbol on our cover – why a DUCK? Despite we are all similar in shape and form we are actually very different. Diversity is one of the most amazing things, it allows collaboration between different cultures, opinions and attitudes that produces the best ideas!

ITALIANS LDN MAGAZINE wants to be part of a concept whose core are people who share a passion for creativity in areas like: fashion, architecture, design and much more, but always with an accent on Italianity.
The overall magazine’s flavour is given by a mix between vintage, pop up and minimal approach. So, for this reason, the GOLDEN DUCK seemed to be the most effective symbol to communicate our concept.

For the next issue we would like to come up with a clever art cover which is not a photography, but a graphic creation or an object that can have also a playful meaning. For instance, ITALIANS LONDON STYLE – Magazine (1st issue) can be read ITS ITALIANS… ITS WHAT THE F**K (DUCK)
In order for this concept to work, we need to stay away from stereotypies such us: pizza pasta and mandolin.

We want readers to be intrigued by the title and a bit confused… Everything should make more sense to them reading through the magazine and also with the output of the second issue.
The series (made of summer and winter issues of the current year) are collectable and the tone of voice is always set by the first issue.
The art covers of every series are always connected through the under title (look under the duck image) which announces the overall theme of the current issue and it gives a clue on the serial closing issue. (See the attached file for the cover example)

We are always interested in viewing new fresh ideas for our covers, but that doesn’t necessary mean something extraordinary or never seen before. We believe that the best definition of creativity has to be found in the simplest forms. It’s the context and the meaning that makes things special. For us the cover should be something close to a work of art, rather than full of confusing titles.

The next cover issue’s aim is to generate a collaboration: create an artwork which can be signed and also establish a start for a future career.

Art Cover inspiring clues:
- it has to be one single object
- it can be built from an image with the help of graphics and Photoshop (or similar techniques) to personalise it
- it needs to be fresh and catchy
- it can be an ordinary object or being that can be personalised
- the under titles chosen for the next issue are the following: CLEVER / DIFFERENT / DELICIOUS / ELECTRIC / HOT / DARING / CREATIVE

Competition Starts : 1st of September
Competition Ends : 12th of October

HOW TO APPLY:

1. How should you submit the designs? What format, size and what is the best email address?
For now a PDF format would be the best. Please note that the magazine size is "285mm X 200mm portrait", students can get an idea from the samples in the attached file, for the overall image's size.

2. Email to: [email protected] and CCed [email protected] and [email protected]

3. Email SUBJECT - ITS COVER COMPETITION (Marangoni)

4. What could you win?
wFor the right candidate we can offer the possibility to work with us, after passing a proper interview of course - and a more immediate reward such as the winning student's name among our Contributors, which would bring great visibility and work opportunities to the student.

GOOD LUCK!
