Yesterday, the Student Voice Network meeting marked the successful introduction of the new Student Voice Peer Support Drop-in Clinics, a student-led initiative designed to strengthen communication between postgraduate students and the PG Placements Team.

The event highlighted the journey and growth of the Student Voice Network since its establishment in August 2025, showcasing how student feedback and collaboration continue to shape the postgraduate placements experience.

Students shared the impact of the network’s work so far, from peer engagement initiatives and industry discussions to creating more accessible support for postgraduate students navigating placements and university life.

A key focus of the event was the launch of the new Peer Support Drop-in Clinics, created to provide students with a welcoming first point of contact where they can connect with peers, ask questions, and receive guidance in a supportive environment. The Student Voice Peer Support Drop-in Clinics will now run on the first Thursday of every month, from 10am–4pm in the MBA Suite at Docklands Library. We look forward to welcoming more students and continuing to build a supportive postgraduate community together.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported the initiative. It was inspiring to see students leading meaningful change and building a stronger postgraduate community together.

The session brought together entrepreneurs, students and founders for an open and supportive conversation about building confidence, communicating ideas clearly and finding your voice when speaking about your work. From practising pitches to sharing personal stories and projects, it was great to see participants stepping outside their comfort zones and supporting one another throughout the session.

We are excited to continue creating spaces where ideas can be explored, developed and shared with confidence.

Join us for the next Off the Pitch session on 18 June, from 12:30 to 13:30 at the Millionaires Club. We would love to see you there.

Yesterday students selected for this years Global Internship Programme in India came together this week for a hybrid pre-departure session ahead of their internships this summer.

The event gave students the opportunity to meet one another before travelling to India, while preparing for life and work abroad through sessions on employability, cultural awareness, wellbeing, professionalism, and international experiences.

This year’s cohort includes:
39 students joining T-Hub
16 students joining TANSAM
9 students joining T-Works
10 students joining We-Hub

We are also preparing 19 students for internships in Tampa, Florida, following an online pre-departure session earlier this spring.

Organised by the Global Experiences and Career Zone teams, the programme reflects UEL’s commitment to creating transformative global opportunities that support employability, industry connections, and cultural exchange as part of Vision 2028.

We can’t wait to follow the students’ journeys this summer ✈️

Yesterday, the Career Coaching team hosted our second Assessment Centre experience and it was fantastic to see so many Level 6 students and graduates getting involved.

The session gave participants the opportunity to connect with the Career Zone team alongside external employers, Peabody Housing and Enterprise Mobility. Students gained first hand insight into what a real life assessment centre experience looks and feels like. From group activities and problem solving tasks to interviews and professional networking, attendees were able to practise key employability skills in a supportive and realistic environment.

Experiences like these are invaluable in helping students and graduates build confidence, develop commercial awareness, and prepare for the recruitment processes used by many graduate employers today. It was encouraging to see participants stepping outside of their comfort zones, engaging with feedback, and supporting one another throughout the day.

A huge thank you to the employers who gave their time, expertise, and encouragement, helping to make the experience both authentic and impactful. Opportunities like this play such an important role in bridging the gap between education and employment, and we’re proud to continue supporting our students and graduates on their career journeys.

Neighbourhood Watch continues to create meaningful opportunities for young people at University of East London through community focused initiatives that promote leadership, engagement, and personal development.

Through the partnership between the Career Zone and Neighbourhood Watch, the collaborative Young Change Makers Project supported participants aged 18–24 in developing valuable life and employability skills while encouraging positive change within their communities.

Throughout the programme, participants:
- Developed online and offline safety skills
- Created SMART action plans for community change
- Designed community engagement events alongside Neighbourhood Watch
- Strengthened teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills

Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, the programme concluded with a celebration event recognising the creativity, achievements, and commitment of all participants.

The event showcased the positive impact that strong partnerships between universities and community organisations can have in empowering young people to become proactive changemakers. It was inspiring to see participants share their ideas, growth, and dedication throughout the programme.
