🗣️ Join us for a discussion on the enforcement of international arbitral awards in light of the recent decision of the Supreme Court, regarding The Kingdom of Spain v Infrastructure Services Luxembourg S.A.R.L and another.

👑 This session will explore the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision on sovereign immunity, investor–state arbitration and the practical challenges faced by practitioners seeking to enforce awards against states and state owned entities.

🗣️ This year marked our third DiverCity@CityLawSchool Workshop, bringing together academics and practitioners to explore the evolving challenges of inclusivity and access within the United Nations minority rights framework.

Prof Alexandra Xanthaki delivered the keynote presentation. Thanks to Dr Lilija Alijeva, Professor Tawhida Ahmed and Dr Isilay Taban who organised the workshop as part of their funded project. 👏

📚 The Future of Past Trauma, a collaborative event by the Centre for Justice Reform and the Wiener Library, brought together scholars and practitioners to explore trauma-informed archival practice, participatory archiving and the ethical dimensions of survivor narratives.

🗣️ In the final public panel discussion, chaired by Dr Cassandra Wiener, panelists Dr Christine Schmidt, Elise Bath, Dr Rebecca jinks, Prof Anna Sexton, Dr Aldo Zammit Borda, explored emotional justice, institutional responsibility and social change.

⚖️ "Victim survivors knowing what's going to happen is not enough", Dr Borda explained, "survivors need to be recognised and validated by the court beyond reasonable doubt."

💭 The event ended with powerful closing remarks by President Anthony Finkelstein, who concluded with "The most important part of testimony is what you tell your children, about what you experienced, and the protective value that has."
