Welcome to the NMES PGR Third Year Research Competition Grand Final 2026!
 
The competition showcases the science that our third year postgraduate researchers are working on, while they gain valuable experience presenting their work!
 
A Faculty panel reviewed posters and videos for:
 
✅ Clarity of communication
✅ Communication of relevance and potential impact of the research
✅ Engagement and creativity
 
There was also an audience-choice vote!
 
Posters and videos had themes like Nanopores, Large Language Models, and even Geometry explained using onions, fish and chips and chicken dopiyaza - covering a broad spectrum of work across our departments!

The UK Government has revealed that medical information belonging to 500,0000 participants taking part in the landmark scientific programme, UK Biobank, was listed for sale in China. Informatics' Elena Simperl spoke to BBC News about what the breach tells us about national data infrastructure. 🔐

"Too often, the costs of maintaining infrastructure for flagship data stewardship projects like this are treated as an afterthought," Elena added.

The King’s Undergraduate Research Fellowships (KURF) are just for you!

Thanks to KURF, students can work directly as research assistants alongside King's academic and professional services staff in a variety of fields during the summer. As a successful fellow, you will receive the Research Award, featured on your HEAR record and a stipend of up to £1,500! 💷

Things are getting real for King’s students on the Informatics’ Impact Accelerator with Amazon Web Services programme! Students on the programme get to investigate real challenges faced by UK councils and charities, and design solutions which have a positive impact on communities!💪

This event saw King’s final year computer science master’s students presenting their initial proposed solutions to challenges set by local councils. They told us what skills you gain from being involved in this opportunity, including:
