🚨 BREAKING: Over half of oil and gas workers say conditions have worsened over the past five years - despite record-breaking industry profits.

A new survey finds that 27% of workers are actively taking action to get out of the sector, as just 16% say they are happy in their job. But there’s not enough support available to help them transition to new industries.

Workers want government action on jobs, training and investment in the transition. Governments and industry need to start listening to them.

🚨📈 BREAKING: BP has announced $2.3 BILLION profit for the last quarter. Fresh from ditching their pledge to move away from oil and gas, they’ve promised to keep investing in fossil fuels to ‘grow the value of BP’.

Last week, revealed BP closing in on Parliament, with an ad campaign plastering the walls of Westminster tube station. But dig deeper than the headline profits and shameless billboards, and these figures tell a different story…

💰 BP has raked in £44.5billion since the start of the energy crisis ( ).

💰💰 Last year, for every £1 BP spent on low carbon investments, they invested £11 billion in fossil fuels ().

Big oil companies will always put profit over people and planet. They have no place in our energy transition.

NEW 🚨: We’ve joined 60+ climate organisations to call on the incoming government to fund a just transition for North Sea workers and communities.

Alongside phasing out oil + gas, the next government must commit to:

🔨A UK-wide industrial strategy, including substantial investment in domestic manufacturing and skills; expansion of publicly owned energy; and reorganising the tax system for public good.

✊🏽Expanding sectoral collective bargaining across the energy industry and supply chain.

✅ And a Jobs Guarantee, that ensures every oil and gas worker can find equivalent, alternative employment or funded retraining

A plan that transforms our broken energy system; invests in workers + communities; and protects our planet is within reach and must be delivered before the end of the next Parliament.

The culmination of three years of community-led research based in Tower Hamlets, London, this work connects the borough’s long history of resisting injustice with contemporary issues of gentrification, poverty and profiteering. It examines the root causes of food injustice globally and offers community-led solutions to usher in a fairer food system for all ✊🏽
