SOAS We Talk

SOAS We Talk SOAS We Talk is a student-run project celebrating 100 years of diversity at SOAS. This project is for anyone who is passionate about languages and SOAS.

We are looking for people connected to SOAS (current, past, or aspiring students, alumni, professors, staff, etc.) who are passionate about culture and languages and would like to share their language. Our goal is to capture the diversity at SOAS in 100 linguistic varieties using video recording. Please email us to get involved or with any questions [email protected]

Harry shares why he likes SOAS. It's small, but diverse, friendly but bold, and the buildings are ugly, but the people are interesting.

Hello Loyal Friends,

It's time to get the ball rolling on 100+ languages project and there are several ways you can be involved.

1) Send us a video (40sec or less) of you speaking the language of your choice on one of the following topics: Why did you choose SOAS? What do you like about SOAS? How has SOAS shaped/changed you? When you've finished the recording you can send the videos directly to us ([email protected]).Please tell us a) what language you're speaking b) what you're saying. By submitting a video to us you are giving us consent to diffuse the video online. We will use these videos on our YouTube channel as well as our other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. Please note that consent can be retracted at any time.

2) Come in for a recording! Same instructions as above except you show up at room 344 on any of the following dates between 12-3pm and have someone else from the SOASWeTalk project record you. (July 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, or August 2, 4)

3) Be part of our Centennial Video! Along side the above, smaller videos, one of our major goals is to put together a larger, cohesive video built up of different speakers of different languages. This video will also be featured on our YouTube channel as well as the aforementioned social media platforms. We would like to put the film together at the beginning of August. Send us an e-mail of interest with your name and language and we'll be in touch!

Hope to see (and hear!) you soon

Feel free to contact Eveling ([email protected]) for any questions you might have.
