Whether it’s your first exam at LSE, or the final hurdle before graduation, a thorough revision strategy addresses key aspects of exam success: reviewing and remembering, understanding in more depth, and writing clear and direct responses to exam questions.

In this talk, Dr Helen Green will propose how you can begin this process and create a revision strategy that works for you.

Planning to use tweets, chats, stories, images, posts or other social media data for your dissertation? By making use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram or other social media platforms, you can reach places, people, and conversations you might not otherwise have access to.

But are you aware of the practical, ethical, and legal considerations involved in using social media data for research? Are you allowed to text- and data-mine? What about informed consent? How can you use or re-use data from social media and what tools are available to help you?

Questions like these should be addressed in your research design (and written up in your methods!). Book a place on our workshop tomorrow to discover good practice and useful resources to help you get started.

Not got any plans for tomorrow? Join our Learning to Lead: Leadership development session!

We all recognise that leadership is an important part of modern life. It’s key to professional success, political progress, personal achievement, and social change. But what is it? What makes good leadership? Effective leadership? Ethical leadership?

We are very pleased to welcome the Oxford Global Leadership Initiative to LSE LIFE to offer students a unique opportunity to consider these questions and explore what ‘leadership’ means to you. We’ll work through examples together and reflect on personal experiences to understand more about how our values and culture inform our ideas of leadership.

Join LSE student and full-time cheesemonger Sebastiano Caleffi to talk about the role of food in student life, and discuss tips to make the daily task of feeding yourself more enjoyable.

We all know that the literature review is part of your dissertation. But what else is there to know?

In our talk on Wednesday, we’ll address some key questions about your literature review; the nature and the function of the text, and the process of reading and writing to review literature in order to write the text. We’ll also talk about what helps make a good literature and some common pitfalls to avoid, as you read, make notes, draft, and edit your own literature review.
