Quick fire with Loretta Andrews 🧡
 
Loretta is our Programme Manager for the School of Music Creation at ICMP, as well as Programme Lead for our Songwriting BA and Songwriting & Artist Development BA 🎶
 
With experience across music management, business, marketing, songwriting and artist development, she brings a wealth of real-world industry expertise to our students!

We recently welcomed Max Busin, Founder & CEO of .live to ICMP London. 

Speaking with our third-year Music Business and Entrepreneurship students, Max shared insight into building and validating ideas, and how they can grow into impactful businesses.

Sessions like this give students direct access to the people shaping the live sector, including how Gotobeat helps artists sell out venues across the UK and Europe 🎶

From artist autobiographies to titles by leading music writers, these sessions dive deeper into the stories and ideas that have shaped - and continue to shape - the industry.

Collaboration in action at ICMP 🎧🎤 
 
Over 12 weeks, our DJ short course students learn how to DJ from scratch - from first mixes and transitions to building confidence behind the decks.
 
This final event brought them together with students from our Hip-Hop & Rap short course, who’ve been writing, performing and developing original tracks - creating a shared space to collaborate, perform and put everything they’ve learned into practice.
 
It was a chance to test new skills, work with creatives from another discipline and experience what real‑world collaboration looks like all under one roof at ICMP.

Early this month, we plugged our students and alumni into the heart of the UK’s longest running independent showcase of new music - the mighty Liverpool Sound City 🎤✨
 
Our students knocked out killer performances at our takeover of the city’s legendary Jacaranda stage, we had students and alumni impressing music festival goers and music industry insiders across the festival.
 
Alongside this we placed our students in key roles throughout the festival - working on production, live sound, event management, marketing - offering them real-world experience at every level.
 
This was our fifth year partnering with Sound City and we loved every minute of it! Thanks to all who attended, performed and participated.

Last month, we welcomed the iconic Melissa Auf der Maur to ICMP for an inspiring conversation about ‘Even The Good Girls Will Cry’, as well as reflections on the final years of the analogue era ✨

Bassist for Hole + The Smashing Pumpkins, photographer, writer, and co-founder of , Melissa reflected on the alternative scene of the 90s, underscoring the importance of building your own creative ecosystem: the people putting on your shows, taking your photos, making your videos, and supporting what makes you unique.
