The Royal Marsden School is the only centre within the United Kingdom dedicated to the provision of cancer care education. Our link to the world renowned Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust places us in the enviable position of offering education programmes which are directly influenced by development in practice. Our programmes and courses draw upon the wealth of knowledge and expertise of the cli

nical staff at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust who are leaders in their field. The Trust has a long history in the development and education of practitioners in cancer care. Many of todayโ€™s key clinicians, researchers and educators undertook education programmes at the Royal Marsden before taking their knowledge and skills into cancer care at a national and international level.

The Royal Marsden School offers a range of academic programmes at the undergraduate and masterโ€™s level, enabling health and social care practitioners to achieve a cancer specialist qualification. With programmes comprised of a wide range of optional modules, students can create a programme specifically tailored to their interests and skills.

Our flexible masterโ€™s level programme allow students to step off the full masterโ€™s, with exit awards offered at postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma level.

Validated by the University of East Anglia, our programmes are also mapped to the ACCEND Framework (HEE, 2023).

This study day will provide an overview of oncological conditions affecting Children and Young People with solid tumours, aiming to provide a greater understanding of treatments within the solid tumour disease groups. Advances in treatment will be explored as well as discussion surrounding current targeted therapies and their impact upon todayโ€™s practice. The afternoon will aim address different aspects of solid care and options, as well as an opportunity to listen to the lived experiences of a patientโ€™s family.

This study day would be perfect for medical, nursing and allied health professionals with an interest in caring for children and young people with oncological conditions.

March is Lymphoedema Awareness Month.

To increase your knowledge of lymphoedema, The Royal Marsden School's 20-credit module can be studied on a standalone basis or as part of a degree programme. In this module, we combine online sessions with in-person learning.

Key topics covered:
- Pathophysiology of chronic oedemas including the associated risk factors
- Specialist skills needed in the assessment and measurement and management of lymphoedema
- Health promotion; coping with and adjusting to a chronic condition including advice regarding movement and exercise
- The role of MLD and SLD in lymphoedema management
- The role of the Lymphoedema Support Network
- The global picture of lymphoedema and service development.
