Our reputation of academic merit and active research since 1850 provides students with a quality educational experience. With a 95% graduate employability rate and student satisfaction rated at 86%, it’s no wonder St Mary’s is the place to be! Situated in the leafy borough of Richmond upon Thames, our campus boasts all the perks of a great City location with the peace and tranquility of a safe sub

urb. This unique location, only 30 minutes away from Central London, enables students to take advantage of everything the capital has to offer. From shops, clubs and entertainment to history, arts and culture - you’ll find everything you need right on your doorstep! St Mary’s is the perfect place for developing a vibrant social life and lifelong friendships. Our special sense of community is reflected in our Students’ Union. The SU hosts many weekly events as well as highly anticipated annual occasions such as The West London Varsity and the Summer Ball. Not just for entertainment, these events are also designed to bring students together to share in the experience. We have a large number of sports clubs and societies that provide the perfect platform to express yourself, make friends and socialise; these range from rugby and football to drama and SMUC radio. As a member of the SU you have a voice to express your opinion and to make change, whether it is academic, social or sporting. Sport at St Mary’s is an important and exciting part of the student adventure; we offer a dynamic sporting experience with state-of-the-art facilities, including an £8.5m Sports Centre, which was used during the pre-Games training camp for the London 2012 Olympic Games. This provides our students with unique opportunities to enrich their studies and develop their personal fitness. Arguably some of the best in London, our campus sports facilities have been used by international athletes such as Usain Bolt, Mo Farah and David Weir. The facility was developed in response to increased demand and will be used for both teaching and service delivery in the areas of strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and health related exercise. There are also a variety of learning environments on campus, from traditional teaching areas to the more informal i-learn café and learning lounge for group activity. In 2014 the University also invested £350,000 in a new media production facility. We have a long-standing relationship with the international community and welcome students from across the globe. Conveniently positioned between Heathrow Airport and London, St Mary’s is easy to find once you arrive. With a wealth of experience in helping students from various backgrounds, we offer a full spectrum of support for international students from finance and accommodation to academic and social. Pre-sessional English programmes are also available for those who need extra support with English as their first language. We have a number of partner colleges and universities in the USA, Canada, Australia and Brazil to name a few, and we welcome any of our students who wish to embark for a semester or academic year on our study abroad programme. Our strong Catholic ethos was internationally celebrated in 2010 when Pope Benedict XVI visited campus as part of the first Papal Visit to the UK since 1982. We were specially selected by the Vatican for our first-rate facilities, location and outstanding contribution to Catholic education over the last 165 years. Coverage was broadcasted globally and featured extensively in the local, national and international press. With 95.3% of graduates employed or in postgraduate education after six months (compared to the 92.2% national average), St Mary’s was ranked in the top 25 for graduate employability in 2014. Data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) ranked St Mary’s 21st out of 154 higher education institutions in the UK for graduate employment rates. St Mary’s welcomes students from all faiths and none, and as one of our students you will receive all the help you need to move on successfully after your degree. Our work-related learning and placement schemes give you invaluable experience, while the Careers Service offers all the guidance and information you need to make the transition into work or higher level study. We are proud to provide our students with a path to a promising future. We value all feedback from students and use their suggestions to continuously make improvements and enhance the campus facilities. We are proud to be one of 24 universities awarded funding by the Office for Students and the Ministry of Defence to develop new academic programmes to support the development of the defence workforce in the UK.

The funding, which exceeds £1.2m, will support the University to develop specialist facilities and deliver an additional 60 student places between 2026 and 2029 on new and enhanced defence-focused programmes. This will see the University introduce new BSc Defence Systems, BEng Defence Systems Engineering, and Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Apprenticeship programmes, alongside an expansion of existing computing and engineering programmes.
