University of Roehampton expertise on the big stage โšฝ๏ธ๐ŸŒ

Featured on Sky Sports ๐Ÿ“บ, presenter Roman Kemp visited our labs ๐Ÿ”ฌ to experience the extreme conditions teams could face at the 2026 World Cup. The segment, now available on the Sky Sports website, showcases our research in action.

Working alongside Dr Chris Tyler, Reader in Environmental Physiology ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ, Roman took part in testing across different climate conditions, from Vancouver to Miami ๐ŸŒก๏ธ, highlighting how heat impacts performance, recovery, and preparation.

With varied host cities and intense environments ahead, science is playing a vital role in helping athletes perform at their best.

The feature also involved Roehampton graduate Daniel Long ๐ŸŽ“, now a football journalist for Sky Sports, covering Premier League and EFL competitions.

Based in our School of Life and Health Sciences, Roehamptonโ€™s sport and exercise science facilities give students access to industry standard equipment, supporting both teaching and cutting edge research ๐Ÿš€

Sunshine filled the air at todayโ€™s Summer Fare โ˜€๏ธ

From familiar faces to new friendships just beginning, it was a reminder of what makes Roehampton so special - a place where community thrives, moments are shared, and campus truly feels like a home away from home ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒŸ A reflection from our student Saif Hassan following the Be The Ladder Awards 2026 launch event. ๐Ÿชœ

Saif, a final year LLB student, attended alongside fellow Roehampton student Roman Agyeman as Be The Ladder ambassadors, representing the University of Roehampton at an inspiring evening focused on social mobility, opportunity and inclusion. ๐Ÿš€

A highlight of the evening was hearing from I. Stephanie Boyce CBE FKC, whose powerful reflections on representation and leadership left a lasting impact ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to Amandeep Khasriya and Dr. Trevor D. Sterling Hon.causa for continuing to champion opportunities for others to thrive.

We look forward to the Be The Ladder Awards 2026 ๐Ÿ†

๐ŸŒŸ We were delighted to welcome Darla-Jane Gilroy to campus as part of our Enriching the Curriculum Conference for School of Education students.

Darla-Jane, daughter of alumna Beryl Gilroy, delivered an inspiring keynote on education, curriculum, and the importance of inclusive practice.

Beryl Gilroy, part of the Windrush generation, was one of Britainโ€™s first Black headteachers and a celebrated author whose work highlighted the experiences of Black teachers and students in post-war Britain. Her legacy continues to shape education today, and we are proud to have a building named in her honour on campus.

Thank you to Darla-Jane Gilroy for an inspiring and thought-provoking session ๐ŸŽ“

๐Ÿค–ย MSc Artificial Intelligence students Rostam Sodagari and Daud Ibrahim were part of the winning team at the London Agentic Evolution Hackathon - taking 1st place out of 70+ teams and 200+ participants ๐Ÿ†

Their project, PlanPass AI, is an intelligent platform designed to help homeowners and builders navigate complex planning regulations before committing to costly designs, tackling a problem that costs the UK around ยฃ900 million every year. ๐Ÿ’ปโš™๏ธ

Built with real-world impact in mind, the team created a production-ready solution that combines planning intelligence with interactive design - helping users visualise, refine and de-risk their projects.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œThe skills you build in the classroom only fully click when you put them under real pressure.โ€

A huge congratulations to Rostam and Daud on this well-deserved win ๐Ÿ‘

Sunshine and celebration at the 146th Whitelands May Day Festival โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒธ

Guests gathered to mark the enthronement of our new May Monarch, Keira Williams, in a beautiful ceremony at Holy Trinity Church, followed by a day of crafting, maypole dancing, and afternoon tea.

Bringing together students, alumni, community, and friends, the day reflected a shared spirit of creativity and generosity - supporting two meaningful charities ๐Ÿ’š
