Applications Open - London Intervarsity Witness Examination Competition 2026

Ready to build real courtroom advocacy skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment? This friendly intervarsity competition brings together students from UCL, LSE, and KCL to practise the art of witness examination in a realistic trial setting.

✨ Why take part?

Designed for beginner–intermediate advocates - perfect if you’re new to advocacy or want to build confidence without the intensity of major national moots

Receive personal feedback from practising criminal barristers

Finals judged by barristers from Garden Court Chambers

🗓️ Key Dates (in person at LSE):

Preliminary Round: 4 March 2026 (6:00–7:30 PM)

Finals: 14 March 2026 (time TBC)

⚖️ Competition Format

Compete in pairs - each advocate examines a witness

Top two teams progress to the Final (may require switching sides)

New case materials provided 5 days before each round

Step into the world of cross-border disputes, treaty interpretation, and high-level advocacy. Start at Strand and progress to the semi-finals and finals at Atkin Chambers, arguing complex arbitration problems before leading practitioners.

Expect sharp submissions, intense rounds, and the chance to network with professionals, plus a mini-pupillage opportunity for the winner.
