Team Up Imperial College Team Up is a student led society at Imperial College Union set up in 2011 to offer university studen

TeamUp volunteers tutor local school pupils to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds reaching their full academic potential. Our members have the opportunity to volunteer in the education sector whilst building confidence and gaining excellent teaching, team work & communication skills. We also work with our sponsors to provide personal development opportunities and fa

ce time with graduate recruitment departments. TeamUp is an organisation aiming to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds reaching their full academic potential. To achieve this, TeamUp volunteers go to local schools to tutor school pupils once a week, or run sessions at Imperial on Saturdays. By volunteering in the education sector, our members build confidence and gain valuable teaching, teamwork and communication skills. In addition, TeamUp works with sponsors to provide graduate recruitment opportunities for its volunteers. We also run various social events throughout the year such as bar nights, bowling and dinners which creates a community amongst our volunteers. Volunteering with TeamUp will give you the opportunity to explore teaching in a fun and dynamic environment where you will meet other like-minded students and help pupils in the process. Only 1 in 3 pupils from low-income backgrounds leave school with basic qualifications. For just 90 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon you can join Team Up’s leadership programme to tackle social inequality in London while gaining a career mentor for yourself!

Equipped with full training and detailed resources, you will be partnered with a group of three disadvantaged pupils who are currently under-performing in English or maths and provide them with the academic support, encouragement and inspiration they need to get back on track. On average, over the past year, pupils on our programme made double the level of nationally expected progress!

In addition you will:

- Gain a career mentor from an industry of your choice
- Achieve an accredited qualification in leadership
- Receive access to full lesson plans and on-site support

Full programme details:

Chelsea Academy
Lots Rd, SW10 0AB
Wednesdays, 14:15 - 15:45

Hey guys,

Fresher's fair is just around the corner and we need volunteers to man our stall, telling people about their experiences with Team Up and getting them to add their names to our mailing list. If you'd like to help with this, please sign up using this link:
https://doodle.com/poll/3t4dp7taexh2rkah.

Even if you don't have time to help out, feel free to come and visit our stall on the Queen's Lawn Terrace anytime from 11 - 4 this Tuesday.

Also, there are plenty of opportunities to tutor over the coming year and it's never too early to sign up. If you are interested in tutoring this term or next, more details can be found here, on Team Up's website: https://teamup.org.uk/how-it-works/role-models/apply-now.

10 - 11 is set up time. 4 - 4:30 is set down time.
